Course Description

In this camp, participants will explore ways for integrating technology into the science classroom. Topics include including locating online resources and tools, using virtual sites, working with experts, integrating Web 2.0 tools and accessing collaborative projects. Participants will gain the skills, strategies and resources to integrate such learning technologies in the science curriculum.

  • Understand the five principals of technology integration.
  • Understand best practices in using and managing classroom technologies.
  • Understand the 4 steps in lesson planning.
  • Understand the different types of online science resources and tools.
  • Describe using centers and scheduling to maximize access to technology.
  • Describe the lesson components of a tech-infused lesson.
  • Describe the different types of student resources located on the Web.
  • Classify and arrange online resources based on set criteria.
  • Define Web 2.0, describe the types of tools and how they can be used in a science class.
  • Understand the different types of project-based activities.
  • Create an online resource bank of resources and activities.
  • Create a website to serve as a classroom learning space.
  • Explain how the websites will be used in the classroom.
